Bajaj Auto Ltd. is a leading two wheeler and three wheeler producer in India. The production segment of Bajaj includes motorcycles, scooters and auto rickshaws. Bajaj Auto is a part of the Bajaj Group which is an Indian based company. The company was founded by Jamnalal Bajaj in Rajasthan in the 1940s. Currently, the company has its headquarters in Pune, India.
Bajaj is also one of the biggest automobile companies having joint ventures with many other big companies. Among the various mergers of Bajaj Autos, the most notable merger was with the Austrian Motorcycle brand KTM. In November 2007, Bajaj acquired 14.5% stake in KTM Power Sports AG. The companies signed a deal, which included terms such as; KTM will provide Bajaj with the production techniques for the development of the water-cooled four-stroke 125 and 250 cc engines. In return, Bajaj will take over the distribution of KTM products in the Indian and the South Asian market. As on 2013, Bajaj Auto held 47.96 % stake in the company.
