Aprilia motors is an Italian two wheeler manufacturing company which was founded by Cavaliere Alberto Beggio in the year 1945. The company was originally started as a bicycle manufacturing company and later moved on to motorbikes production in the year 1968. The company began producing Aprilia scooter models during the 90s.

In the 90s, Aprilia entered the scooter market by introducing the first all-plastic scooter named ‘Amico’. Shortly after the launch of the Amico, Aprilia launched Amico LK and the two stroke Pegaso 125 in the year 1992. With the success of the existing Aprilia scooter models, the company launched more models in the consecutive years. In 1993, Aprilia launched a large diameter wheel scooter re-using the name Scarabeo that featured a four stroke and four valve engine. With the positive response from the buyers, Aprilia launched more scooters like Leonardo, SR and the Gulliver.

The year 2004 was one of the most favourable years for Aprilia as it became a part of Piaggio motors. Merger with Piaggio motors made Aprilia world’s fourth largest motorcycle manufacturer with sales that amounted to 1.5 billion Euros. In the same year, they produced over 600,000 vehicles and gained popularity in 50 countries. Aprilia became the most successful motorcycle racing brand in history, surpassing the fellow Italian manufacturer MV Agusta in the year 2010.

Aprilia motors made its debut in the India market with the Aprilia Scooter Models, with the first one being Aprilia SR 150 and SR Race. Aprilia scooters have pleased the Indian buyers with their looks and the all plastic body that promises to offer durability on the Indian roads.
