Royal Enfield was named under the Enfield Cycle Company Limited, based in Redditch and Worcestershire. The company sold motorcycles, bicycles, lawnmowers and stationary engines – which were originally manufactured by them. Previously, the brand was only known as Enfield without Royal. However, the first motorcycle built by the company was in the year 1901. Furthermore, Enfield collaborated with Norton Villiers in 1967, but unfortunately the business shut-down in 1978.
