Kinetic Engineering Limited, an Indian automobile manufacturer, founded in 1972 by H.K Firodia, headquartered in Pune, India. Kinetic bikes previously it sold 2-wheelers under the name Kinetic Honda and later Kinetic. The Kinetic Luna was a very popular bike and was sold domestically as well as exported to the U.S, Argentina, Brazil and Sri Lanka.
Honda joined hands with Kinetic bikes to manufacture Kinetic Honda scooters. These scooters had gearless transmission and equipped with an electric start which brought about a revolution in the two-wheeler industry. Thereafter, in 1998, Honda parted ways with Kinetic bikes, and the Firodia bought major stakes in the company. Mahindra later entered into a joint venture with Kinetic where it held 80% stake and hence attained then selling Kinetic brands and their manufacturing facilities.
Kinetic motors produce and sell automotive components after selling its stakes to Mahindra Automobiles. In January 2011, Kinetic announced plans to produce electric vehicles. Samena Capital bought the stakes of Kinetic from Mahindra in 2014 for INR 182 crores. MV Agusta tied up with Kinetic to debut in India on June 27, 2014.
